Brouhaha was established in June 2016 by four Sunshine Coast locals with the dream to create a premium quality brewery and restaurant. What started off as a small regional brewpub has grown into much, much more.

Brouhaha's Maleny venue is located 95km north of Brisbane and is a modern brewpub, dressed with a distressed timber bar, polished concrete floors, copper light fixtures & timber furnishings. The venue can seat up to 165 patrons and boasts a 10 tap bar and curated wine and spirit list of Australian wineries and distilleries. Maleny is known for its fresh, seasonal produce and speciality products and these are utilised throughout the seasonal menu.

In August 2016, the four owners' plans of running a small regional brewpub changed as James Halliday listed Brouhaha as one of four "exciting Australian breweries to watch". The news of Brouhaha's diverse range of beer quickly began to spread, and the need for package beer started to roll in from bars and restaurant across South East Queensland.

In March 2017, in a move against the traditional brewpub model, Brouhaha began packaging their range of beers. This original lineup of cans included the Strawberry Rhubarb Sour, NZ Pale Ale, Raspberry Saison, Middle of the Road, Blonde Ale, Dry Hopped Saison, IPA, Milk Stout and Double IPA. While some of these beers have come and gone and seen their recipe and names changed, many are still staples in Brouhaha's core offering and appear as seasonally brewed beers.

In September 2016, Brouhaha received its first nod from the craft brewery industry. Director and Head Brewer Matt Jancauskas was award "Best Brewer" at the inaugural Beeries award. From then on, Brouhaha's name started to grow and became synonymous with their Strawberry Rhubarb Sour. A beer that was thought to be an underdog has grown to be the highest-selling and most recognisable in their core offering. The Strawberry Rhubarb Sour made its way into GABS Hottest 100 Australian Craft Beers, voted #77 in 2018 and #93 in 2019.

The taste for Brouhaha had started to make its way through South East Queensland and over state borders. The need for Brouhaha's beers had outgrown the original capacity of their Maleny Brewpub and, in February 2018, Brouhaha increased its brewing capacity from 100,000 Lt to 250,000 Lt with the addition of a 5,000 Lt and two 1,500 Lt fermentation tanks.

2018 was a year of growth and appreciation for Brouhaha. Their core range had been tweaked and perfected, production had been increased and distribution was expanding. It was time for Brouhaha's packaging to step it up to the next level. In April 2018, Brouhaha underwent a brand and packaging refresh. The overall design went against the grain in an industry dominated by masculine and noisy packaging. Brouhaha arrived on a minimal packaging design that was approachable to all with bold type and colours.

In June 2018, Brouhaha purchased their own canning line. This allowed them to have greater control of the quality of the beer and care taken while packaging.

Proud of their home in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, Brouhaha uses their restaurant's menu as a way to showcase the fresh produce of the region. Brouhaha became known as the "Hinterland Brewery" and, in June 2018, Matt was asked to be a Visit Sunshine Coast Ambassador and was the star in a Tourism Queensland advertising campaign highlighting the beauty of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.

In July 2019, Brouhaha was awarded the Golden Beery for Best Community Contributor. Brouhaha teamed up with distributor, Calibre and Mongrel Bar to create a Collab Brew called Sunburnt Country. This beer was used as a series of karma kegs fundraisers run of 11 different bars to raise $16,500 for Asylum Circle - a QLD organisation that assists those seeking asylum with shelter, food and community connections.

2020 was a difficult year for everyone. COVID brought the world and the hospitality industry to a standstill. Venues began to shut down, and Brouhaha's restaurant had to close its doors for 4 months. Brouhaha's production pause was short-lived. After decanting all kegs into packaging, it was not long before Australia shifted its purchasing habits, and everyone was supporting local. In March 2020, Brouhaha began to range beers in BWS and Dan Murphy's stores across the Sunshine Coast and was available in over 200 venues across South East Queensland.

In May 2021, Brouhaha announced plans to build a second venue in the Aura Business Park at Bells Creek. The expansion will see the brewery quadruple its beer production and offer an entirely different brewery experience. Their Maleny venue will remain the heart and soul of the business and allow Brouhaha to experiment with creative seasonal ales, with their eyes set on the addition of a barrel ageing program.

Since opening in 2016, Brouhaha has been proudly independent and locally owned.
