Our brewers have been crazy busy as of late. Not only are they keep up with the demand for our core range, but they have also managed to squeeze in not one, but TWO different seasonal beers! Both to be released this week!
Last week Steve and Dan, from Melbourne’s Tallboy and Moose, stopped by Brouhaha Brewery to team up on brewing a very special beer. A Dry Hopped Peach Kveik IPA for their Fruit Blaser event for Melbourne’s Good Beer Week. Using a Norwegian yeast strain and after finding out that Roald Dahl Norwegian, it was a no brainer to affectionately call this collab “Jens & the Giant Peach”.
A little bit about Jens.
Jens is one fruity character! He had to be to fit into Tallboy and Moose’s Fruit Blaster event. And with 160kg of mouthwatering peach nectar added to a very hungry Kveik Yeast driven IPA, he sure lives up to his name. Weighing in at 6.5%, Jens and his Giant Peach will show up with some citrus orange and spice from the Kveik, followed with the delicious sweetness of Peach Nectar. Jens will not be lacking in hop characteristic, and you can expect that juicy goodness Brouhaha IPA’s are known for.
Why so Kveik?

Kveik yeast is something else! Brouhaha typically works with a yeast that ferments at 18 degrees and usually takes about four to five days to ferment. With Kveik, however, it is capable of fermenting in 24-48 hours!! WOW!! Now, that’s Kveik!!

We have brewed a beer
Our Middle of the Road is a 3.5% Pale Ale, brewed with “Lift Legends” in mind. Brouhaha Brewery is located in Maleny, and we get a lot of day-trippers making the journey to our brewery. We didn’t want those driving to miss out and be able to have a beer (responsibly). The malt bill of the Middle of the Road is Pilsner, Wheat, US Ale, Oats. When brewing this beer, we wanted it to have more body and mouthfeel than your usual mid-strength beer. We were able to achieve this through the selection of malts and the use of oats.
Made from two-row barley, this is a lightly kilned malt which adds a light malty flavour, minimal sweetness, a light pale colour, body and head retention.
Made from malted wheat (surprising), this malt adds body and head retention to the beer along with a clean wheaty flavour.
American Ale Malt:
This is a malt that adds body and a clean maltiness without that extra toasted flavour.
Adding oats to the mash help increase the mouthfeel of the beer while keeping the alcohol content down.

We are looking at freshening up our merch and going with a few new designs. But our creativity is pretty much is limited to the kitchen and the brew kit. We are running a competition to hunt down some creative types to design our new merch. To enter the comp, we are asking that you design a shirt. The design could be either a purely typographical based design to an abstract illustration of what you imagine Brouhaha means to you. If you are feeling creative, follow this link below to learn more. No someone who is a little arty and think they might be interested. Don’t keep the news all to yourself, and click here share the link with them.
The Daily Mail Australia released an article shinning a spotlight on the dominance multinationals have over the Australian Beer Market. The study was conducted by IBISWorld Australia. It is easy to get the wool pulled over your eyes when 90% of the Australian beer industry is owned by two multinational companies. With many of these beers marketed as Craft Beers, it is no surprise that the term “craft” is becoming a little-blurred. However, as of June 2018, Australian beer drinkers now have 547 independently owned breweries to choose from. And thanks to Independent Brewers Association and their Independence Seal, supporting local breweries has never been easier. #askforindiebeer

Brouhaha Brewery’s Matt and Brews News’ Matt sat down got together and had a chat about beer. They also had a chat about Matt’s (Brouhaha’s Matt) origin story and how he went from a sparky to brewing at Logan Plant’s Beavertown in London and ended brewing beer in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. This interview took place right after the inaugural Beeries awards, in which Matt (Brouhaha Matt) was awarded Best Brewer.
